30 Day Skin Restoration Plan: Operation Sweet Skin

Great skin, how many of us have it? Whether it’s an up coming wedding, too much neglect or you’re no longer denying the signs of ageing, there are many, many efforts you can make to get great skin. But you gotta commit. For a month, decide to put your skin ahead of everything else. Like Janet, if your skin is asking “what have you done for me lately?” then it’s time to show it some love and affection.

Most diets have weight loss or weight gain as a primary goal. Not the case with OPERATION SWEET SKIN. The objective here my pretty is to bombard your body with all the heavy artillery it needs to fight the good fight and maintain a more youthful glowing epidermis. The food and methods listed below will be your arsenal, should you accept this mission.

You Gotta Hydrate for Great Skin

Water. We’ve all heard it before so I won’t go into details. This is the most important task on your great skin mission. For 30 days walk around with a large water bottle, at least a litres worth and when it’s empty, refill it. For those of you who’ve been living under a rock and have no clue, here’s what you should know about water:

  • drinking water gives you a radiant, healthy, younger- looking complexion.
  • without water, your skin like the rest of your organs, will certainly not function properly or at their best.
  • A lack of hydration will make your skin dry, tight and flaky. Dry skin has less resilience and is more prone to wrinkling.
  • the unfortunate truth about drinking water and skin is that water will reach all the other organs before it reaches the skin.
  • It’s important to apply water to our skin and keep it there – this will not only show a visible difference in hydration, but it can prevent wrinkles, as well.

So what is the best way to maintain and keep your skin hydrated?

Use a hydrating moisturiser within 2 minutes of leaving the bath or shower. The skin is still porous and is vulnerable to products that are applied following the bath or shower, allowing better absorption.

Apply a product containing hyaluronic acid prior to your moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid holds 1,000 times its own weight in water, thus attracting water to the skin and holding it there. Younique’s Royalty Rose Water Toning Spritz is a great source of this wonder ingredient, it actually attracts water to your skin. Get Glowing with Chocolate

YES we’re starting with chocolate! Dark chocolate only. The darker the chocolate, the sweeter the… never mind, it’s just really good for your skin. Here’s why: the cocoa hydrates your skin, making it firmer and more supple. And dark chocolate contains high levels of these lovely things called flavonols, a very virile type of antioxidant, just picture Dwayne Johnson but more edible. For maximum flavonol content, eat chocolate that’s at least 70 percent cacao. A couple of squares a day should be enough to improve luminosity. When applied topically, the caffeine in chocolate does sometimes reduce skin puffiness too. Personally, I’d rather eat chocolate than rub it on my face.

 

Prevent Wrinkles with Yogurt

Skin is made of protein. The protein you get from eating dairy helps skin become firmer and more resistant to lines. Greek yogurt is your best option because the protein content is double that of regular yogurt. All you need to do is have a single serving daily to make your complexion smoother, add blueberries to improve taste and increase your antioxidants.

 

Great Skin is Protected with Pomegranates

I know, I know, too much work and not enough return on investment. But each one of those seeded bulbs of the pomegranate is packed with polyphenols that fight free radicals and regulate skin’s blood flow, optimising the delivery of oxygen and nutritents.  The more of those your skin gets, the happier you’ll be with the way it looks. One pomegranate or a few glasses of its juice daily should do the trick. When the juice is applied to your skin, the fruits’ antioxidants help smooth lines and moisturise. This can be costly, but even if you were able to do this 2-3 times a week, the difference will be remarkable.

 

Soften Skin with Walnuts

I’m not gonna lie, walnuts are not my favorite in regards to taste. But I suck it up and eat them anyway because they contain omega-3 essential fatty acids which improve skin’s elasticity, These nuts are also a great source of copper, a mineral that heightens collagen production. Munch on a handful of walnuts each day to enhance your complexion’s texture.

 

Fight Crow’s-Feet with Peppers

Women who eat green and yellow vegetables regularly tend to have far less wrinkles than women who don’t, especially around the eyes. Research also shows that carotenoids — the lovely antioxidants that come from sexy yellow and orange veggies — can lower your skin’s sensitivity to the sun. Commit to eating for 1-2 cups of peppers daily.

 

Brighten Up with Sunflower Seeds

Jam packed with vitamin E, sunflower seeds keep your skin youthful by protecting its top layers from the sun. Eat a handful daily. They have a high essential-fatty-acid content which great is for your parched body parts. What Idris Alba is for my eyes, fatty acids are for your skin. Get your hands on some sunflower seed oil and don’t be afraid to do a steam treatment by applying the oil to you face and cover with a warm steamy towel 1-2 times a week, especially in the winter.

 

Look Younger with Oatmeal

Steel-cut oatmeal is less processed than the common loose oats we’re used to eating. It’s amazing for your skin because it retains more vitamins. It also takes longer to break down in your body, which helps keep your blood sugar stable. This is very important for skin care because spiked blood sugar elevates your body’s level of androgens, which are hormones that can contribute to wrinkles. Oats are also highly skin healing. Commit to eating oats in the morning with stevia or sweetened with fruit 4-5 times a week.

 

Empower Your Skin with Chaga Tea
